A movie review in “REWIND” (Queenie Shakira)

  • Film Title: Rewind

  • Publication Year: 2023

  • Director: Mae Cruz-Alviar

  • Screenwriter: Enrico Santos, Joel Mercado

  • Your opinion of the film: Touching, emotional, and thought-provoking

Rewind tells the story of John and Mary, a married couple whose relationship has been weakened by John’s neglect. When Mary suddenly dies in an accident, John is given a supernatural chance to rewind time and correct his mistakes. The film shows his journey of regret, love, and the desire to make things right, which deeply moved me as a viewer because it reminds us of the importance of valuing our loved ones before it’s too late.

John, played by Dingdong Dantes, is a husband who realizes too late that he took Mary for granted. His journey of regret and redemption makes him relatable because everyone has moments of neglect or mistakes toward loved ones. Mary, portrayed by Marian Rivera, is a loving wife whose patience and sacrifices reflect the quiet strength of many mothers and wives. Their relationship mirrors real struggles in marriage, making their story both relatable and heartbreaking.

One impressive aspect of the film is its use of music, particularly the song “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay” by Ben&Ben. This song was used in key moments, making the scenes more emotional and memorable. Combined with the film’s cinematography, which beautifully captured both the happy and sad moments, the music elevated the emotional impact and made the story linger in the hearts of viewers.

Rewind is a moving film that teaches us to appreciate and love the people in our lives while we still have time. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys heartfelt stories about love, family, and second chances.
